Knitting Course with Kirsten Ascanius
– construction, fit, and gauge
We invite you – or a loved one – to a knitting course at Samværk with knitting designer Kirsten Ascanius. The course spans four evenings and is aimed at those who wish to delve into construction and fit.
To maintain an intimate and calm atmosphere, the course is held for a small group of 12 participants. This allows ample space for shared reviews, questions, and individual guidance – creating an intimate and cozy course experience.
Content
During the course, you will work with Kirsten's latest design, the Jackie Pullover, which can be knitted in five different models. Each model has its own detailed and easy-to-understand pattern, and there are plenty of opportunities to customize the design to suit your style and preferences.
You can choose from, among other things:
- I-cord or ribbed edges
- Short, three-quarter, or long sleeves
- Straight or softly rounded finishes
- Different yarn qualities and thicknesses
With Kirsten's skilled and attentive guidance, you will become confident in lace knitting, gain insight into the construction behind the Jackie Pullover, and learn how to adjust the fit so it sits exactly as you desire.
For those interested, there will also be guidance on gauge and how to calculate size selection based on a swatch.
The Setting
To make the evenings extra cozy, we will provide hot drinks and pastries, so you can lean back and enjoy creative immersion in Samværk's calm café and shop environment.

Mondays: 13/4, 20/4, 27/4 and 11/5
Time: 6:30 PM–9:00 PM
Location: Samværk, Istedgade 65, Copenhagen V
Price: 1,200 DKK for the entire course (4 evenings)
The price does not include yarn, which must be purchased at the start of the course. Course participants receive a 15% discount on yarn for the project.
Cancellation policy: Full refund for cancellations made no later than 14 days before the start of the course (March 30). No refund for later cancellations.
About Kirsten Ascanius
Kirsten Ascanius is a trained pattern designer (formerly a model constructor) and has over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry. She has worked with design and construction for companies such as Munthe + Simonsen, Punk Royal, and Whiite.
In 2022, she moved with her family to Minnesota, USA, where she truly began her journey as a knitting designer. Here, she found a creative space where her keen eye for fit, proportions, and details could merge with knitting.
Kirsten's background in fashion design makes her particularly skilled at creating patterns that fit the body well – regardless of size and style. She works with a confident understanding of form and balance and has a special ability to communicate the small adjustments that make a big difference in the finished knit.
